Infrequently Asked Questions

(& assorted fact checking)

Did you actually live in New York?

Nope. We wound up in a suburb, Maplewood, NJ. The train down from our house dropped me right under Madison Square Garden in about the time it took to finish my coffee. I’d love to live right in the city sometime but NJ taught me to love the walking life, which is a real gift.

So what do you really do?

Sorry. That’s not an infrequently asked question. Best to cobble me a note and start a conversation.

Did you really build the biggest design firm of its kind?

I don’t know of any listing of this sort of thing. Most privately held design firms are solo practitioners or have a person or two on staff. The bigger ones I knew about were under a dozen. By the time I unwound myself from my company it was fifty-something people with operations in three cities. One day maybe someone will tell me I’m wrong and I’ll have another soul to commiserate with about unwieldy ‘creative’ operations.
